2010 HLAC Hispanic Heritage Month Event

United Way of Greater Union County (UWGUC) and the Hispanic Leadership Advisory Council (HLAC) hosted a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Tapas of Spain Restaurant in Elizabeth  on October 29th.

Keynote speaker, Luis J. Diaz, Esq., President & CEO of United States Hispanic Advocacy Association delivered his message based on the occasions theme, "Creating New Partnerships for the Future of Latinos in Union County." Mayor of Elizabeth, Chris Bollwage came out to show his support for the event which successfully raised over $2,500. Corporate sponsors for the evening included Comcast and Infineum.  Proceeds will go towards The Elizabeth Hispanic Family Success Center which is intends to provide information and assistance to help families receive needed services, as well as to enrich the lives of children by strengthening families and neighborhoods.

HLAC’s mission is to ensure that members of the Hispanic community have full access to United Way's network of programs and services, as well as to assess and address critical health and human service needs in the City of Elizabeth and Union County.
