Family Strengthening

United Way of Greater Union County, in partnership with the County of Union Department of Human Services, the State of New Jersey Department of Children and Families and The Nicholson Foundation, has become one of the key leaders in an ambitious effort to forge a strategy addressing the needs of children and families in the County – The Union County Family Strengthening Network. Designed to maximize and leverage all available resources within the County, the Union County Family Strengthening Network consists of five components:

Family Success Centers - Our community based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where any neighborhood residents can go for support, information and services.

Community Resource Network - Over 85 organizations belong to our Community Resource Network, each one filling a vital role in providing our area with support it requires.

Nurse-Family Partnership - A health home visitation program that can help transform the lives of vulnerable, first-time mothers.

Reconnections - Helping formerly incarcerated individuals develop meaningful, productive skills that they can use to make their lives better and improve their community.

Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention - UWGUC administers a statewide initiative that supports and encourages positive parenting and strengthens families by providing voluntary programs and services. This approach assesses a family’s strengths and needs and provides appropriate services.
