The Girls Today, Leaders Tomorrow Initiative (GTLT) is a mentoring program designed to provide opportunities that empowers adolescent girls and gives them the tools they need to succeed in today's world. The girls participate in structured workshops that increase self-esteem, self-empowerment and positive life style decisions. United Way of Greater Union County (UWGUC) enlists the assistance of professional women to take on a mentorship role to help these young women develop critical leadership skills that will benefit them on their educational and career pathways.
This year, Ernst & Young has sponsored United Way of Greater Union County's GTLT Initiative and its first annual breakfast. The fundraiser is an opportunity for women to learn more about the Girls Today, Leaders Tomorrow initiative, and how to become involved as a mentor. The Breakfast will be held Friday, March 21st at the Clubhouse at Galloping Hill Golf Course, 3 Golf Drive Kenilworth, NJ, from 8am-10:30am.
Alison Yablonowitz, partner at Ernst & Young LLP in their Assurance practice and Chair of the Women's Leadership Council is leading the effort. Her primary role is to cultivate and nurture philanthropy and volunteerism among women in Union County that support UWGUC programs serving girls in need. Alison will lead this group of professional women who will volunteer their time and provide contributions to meet the needs of UWGUC Girls Today, Leaders Tomorrow Initiative.
This year, Janice Kovach, Mayor of Clinton, will serve as emcee. Mayor Kovach is a long-time supporter of United Way. She served as the Director of the New Jersey Division on Women, a position appointed by the Governor. Currently, Janice is entering the Congressional race in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District.
