United Way GUC Receives Highest Rating from Nonprofit Evaluator Candid

Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency

United Way of Greater Union County has earned Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency. The Platinum Seal is the highest level of recognition offered by Candid (formerly known as GuideStar) and is awarded to organizations that meet the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Fewer than one percent of U.S.-based non-profit organizations have been recognized with the Platinum Seal and United Way of Greater Union County is proud to be among that group.

“United Way of Greater Union County is committed to transparency and best practices in non-profit management, and grateful to maintain trust from our network of board members, donors, volunteers, staff, partnering agencies and clients, said Julienne Cherry, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Union County. “For every dollar contributed to United Way of GUC, 91.8 cents support our program impact,” she added.

To reach the Platinum level, United Way added extensive information to its Nonprofit Profile on GuideStar. This information includes:

• High-level agency overview

• In-depth financial reporting

• Qualitative data about goals, strategies, and capabilities

• Quantitative information about results and progress toward United Way’s mission to advance the common good, creating opportunities for a better life for all by focusing on three key building blocks: health, education, and financial stability.

By collecting and sharing this information, United Way GUC has demonstrated its commitment to transparency and providing meaningful data to evaluate the organization’s performance.

“This milestone achievement for the United Way of Greater Union County couldn’t have happened without the support of our donors and our community. Their trust in us is what makes the difference to the community we serve,” said Karen Kaufman Director of Philanthropy of United Way of Greater Union County.
