Women's Leadership Council delivers 349 books to children in local Union County day cares!

United Way of Greater Union County's Women's Leadership Council (WLC) volunteered for three special Read Aloud Days on January 21st, 22nd, and 23rd in honor of Martin Luther King Day to read books to over 100 children as part of their mission to promote early literacy within pre-schools across Union County. As an added bonus, the women delivered 349 books to the students of Roselle Day Care Center in Roselle, PROCEED I Early Childhood Development Center in Elizabeth, and King's Daughter Day School in Plainfield as part of the Barnes & Noble Annual Book Drive and efforts to donate newly purchased books to organizations throughout their communities. This is the second time the WLC has volunteered as part of their Read Aloud Program and they look forward to collaborating with more community partners in 2016

The WLC is looking for new members to help develop initiatives and events to promote early literacy within the community as well as women empowerment. With the success of the “Shop for A Cause” Event this past December, the council is steadily planning for future events.
