United Way takes our role as stewards of donor money very seriously.
We engage community volunteers to oversee every aspect of our management and financial systems to ensure that we are operating at the highest levels of professionalism and excellence.
87.7% of all dollars raised are invested in programs and services that benefit the people of Union County, North Plainfield, and South Plainfield. Our overhead costs are 12.3% when based on United Way Worldwide’s standards for reporting administrative and fundraising costs against the net revenue. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) wise Giving Alliance, a watchdog among charities, overhead costs less than 20% are considered “excellent,” and less than 35% are “acceptable.”
