Ivy & Ice: Semi-Formal Affair to Honor Local Leaders and Unite Two Community Powerhouses

EAST ORANGE, NJ — Two powerhouse community organizations are joining forces for an uplifting afternoon celebration aimed at honoring leadership, strengthening partnerships, and investing directly in local residents. The Alpha Alpha Lambda Scholarship and Education Foundation and the Omega Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. announced their upcoming collaborative event, Ivy & Ice: A Semi-Formal Affair, a spirited gathering blending elegance, live music, and meaningful recognition on Sunday, December 28 at the Grove in Cedar Grove.

Unlike traditional evening galas, this year’s affair is designed as a bright, relaxed afternoon celebration — welcoming supporters, partners, and community members to come together for fellowship and purpose. At the center of the event is the presentation of the Community Impact and Leadership Award, given to individuals whose work is transforming lives across the region.

This year’s honorees include:

  • Julienne Cherry, President & CEO, United Way of Greater Union County
  • Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, U.S. House of Representatives
  • Stanley J. Neron, Commissioner-Elect, Union County Board of Commissioners
  • Kenyatta Stewart, Assemblyman-Elect, New Jersey’s 35th Legislative District

Alexander Sepulveda, Board Member of the Alpha Alpha Lambda Scholarship and Education Foundation, said the partnership reflects a growing commitment to collaborative, community-focused programming. “Our Foundation is proud to stand alongside the Omega Psi Omega Chapter as we celebrate leaders who uplift and advocate for our communities every single day,” Sepulveda said. “This event not only honors their impact, but helps us expand scholarships, mentorship, and civic engagement opportunities for the residents we serve.”

For Omega Psi Omega Chapter President Lisa Gay, the event captures the heart of the chapter’s mission. “Ivy & Ice allows us to celebrate excellence with joy and intention,” Gay shared. “Coming together with the Alpha Alpha Lambda Scholarship and Educational Foundation amplifies our reach, our purpose, and our ability to collectively make a meaningful difference throughout Union and Essex counties.”

Proceeds from Ivy & Ice: A Semi-Formal Affair will be shared between both organizations to support scholarship initiatives, academic enrichment, youth development programming, and civic engagement efforts.

With its blend of service, celebration, and community collaboration, the event promises to be a signature moment highlighting the power of partnership in advancing local progress.
