FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Union County, NJ — The annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive, organized by the United Way of Greater Union County (UWGUC), was a tremendous success this year—thanks to the generosity, teamwork, and compassion of our community. Together, we exceeded our goal of 500 fully stocked backpacks, helping local children step confidently into the new school year.
The effort was made possible through the generosity of our corporate partners, donors, and volunteers. From stuffing and distributing backpacks to sponsoring supplies, local corporations stepped up in remarkable ways. UWGUC proudly thanks our 2025 partners: Acrisure, Atlantic Federal Credit Union, Assemblywoman Linda Carter, Bristol Myers Squibb, Cintas -Union, Comcast, Columbia Bank-Roselle, Financial Resource Federal Credit Union, Horizon BCBS, Home Quest Realty Group, JRC Mosquito Control, Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper, Managed Business Solutions, Merck, N4SF,Phillips 66, PSEG, RedCom Design & Construction ,LLC, Target - Watchung, Union County Savings Bank, and Wells Fargo.
“This campaign is about more than just backpacks,” said Julienne Cherry, President and CEO. “It’s about giving a child the confidence to start their school year off right." It’s about easing the stress for a parent who can now use limited resources to pay rent or put food on the table, knowing their child has the supplies they need.
Families received backpacks filled with school essentials such as crayons, pens, composition books, and more—along with a special donation of books from Atlantic Federal Credit Union to encourage reading and learning at home. We are especially grateful to our friends at Merck for closing out the year with such a generous contribution of additional backs. UWGUC is already building momentum for next year’s drive. With more than 50 years of partnership, Merck continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to our community.
Managed Business Solutions came dressed up in Cat in the Hat costumes while adding video content to our event. We welcomed the Cat in the Hat and his helpers, as they brought extra joy, making the day a truly unforgettable experience for our community families.
Contributions and commitment from all our volunteers ensure that children in Greater Union County will begin the school year prepared, supported, and ready to succeed.
United Way of Greater Union County extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone—community members, sponsors, and volunteers—who made this initiative a success. Together, we are proving that when a community unites, we can create brighter futures for our children.
