United Way Youth Programs Lead Thanksgiving Efforts Across Union County

In a season centered on gratitude and giving, Youth Programs at United Way of Greater Union County made a strong impact across the community through a series of service-driven initiatives this Thanksgiving.

Corpsmembers played a key role in the organization’s holiday distribution, helping provide turkeys to local families, including support for their own households. Each participating youth brought a turkey home, reinforcing both community service and family stability.

The group also partnered with Iris House and the City of Plainfield to support food distribution efforts, and worked alongside Greater Holy Tabernacle United Holy Church of America in Elizabeth. There, youth assembled and distributed grocery bags, contributing hands-on support to families in need.

In addition to service efforts, 15 youth participants earned their Customer Service certification this month. This milestone reflects the program’s focus on workforce development and preparing young people with practical, career-ready skills.

The week concluded with the Annual Youth Potluck, bringing together staff and participants for a celebration of community, connection, and shared experience. The event was supported by key partners, including The Trippreme Foundation and Lifestyle Creations Inc., whose contributions helped provide meals for New Jersey Youth Corpsmembers and students at Dwyer Technical High School in Elizabeth.

United Way’s Youth Programs continue to combine service, skill-building, and community engagement to create lasting opportunities for young people across Union County.
